Can I use DART to simulate cutting

Hi I wonder if I can use DART to simulate cutting. It seems DART has soft body dynamics.

Thanks!

I would consider simulations of cutting to be a different domain than articulated rigid body dynamics. I think cutting would likely fall under finite element analysis, depend on exactly what effects of cutting you’re hoping to simulate.

However, if you want to have an articulated rigid body simulation where some of the bodies get split apart, that can be done with DART, because DART supports run-time programmatic modifications of bodies and skeletons. Just please understand that you will need to use some other tool for calculating when and how a cut should occur.
